Having spent her childhood near the Kenai Peninsula
in Alaska before moving to California, Jayna's inspiration for art and
fantasy has always been the organic beauty of nature- from picking wild
raspberries in lush, green forests to marveling at crabs, shells and
other fascinating finds on cliffed beaches. For this, her initial fascination
with mermaids is easy to comprehend.
She has received an Associates in Graphic Design from The Art Center
Design College in Tucson, Arizona with a piece selected for school gallery
7 out of 8 quarters. Proficient in most mediums, some favorites are
acrylic painting and colored ball-point pen inking. The latter is a
personally developed medium that takes time. Inking with pallpointed
pen is a very tedious application and the artwork is small (usually
about 8.5"x11" or less) because of the hair-fine strokes.
Currently, all past and new artwork is being remade digitally as photoshop
paintings so that they can be reproduced as large posters and quality
prints. Painting in Adobe Photoshop is just one chosen fine art medium
from the education experience and her work vastly benefits from learning
design principles and applying them to create a 'complete package'.
Jayna started drawing people at the age of 5 in which it became a primary
focus leading to development of skill and personal style, further refined
later in design school. Her mother is an artist as well and her father
is an expert custom craftsman, so her root talent is certainly hereditary.
With each new addition of artwork, Jayna offers yet another unique perspective
for people who love fantastic imagery.
